Karen Diamond is a Wall Street Journal featured licensing specialist with 25 years experience in the industry. In 1995, Karen founded Karen Diamond & Associates (KDA), in response to the needs of Pillsbury for the strategic planning, management, and implementation of the Pillsbury licensing program including the ever popular Doughboy character, Green Giant, Little Sprout and the Old El Paso trademarks. Under Karen’s direction, and in association with The Nancy Bailey Company, the Pillsbury licensing program grew from 4 licensees in 1994, to over 45 companies in 1999. With more than 500 licensed products in the marketplace, the licensing industry still considers the Pillsbury program a model for many successful corporate programs. The Pillsbury kitchen textiles licensee Barth and Dreyfus won the coveted “Licensee of the Year” LIMA (Licensing Industry Merchants Association) award for its superior execution and distribution of the Pillsbury product line. Lechter’s was nominated for the LIMA “Retailer of the Year” award for its comprehensive Pillsbury promotion. Karen has long recognized and addresses retailer needs and requirements and has developed unique retail programs for various properties.
Prior to forming KDA, Karen was Director of Licensing at Warner Bros. Consumer Products handling evergreen brands including Looney Tunes, Batman, Superman, Pillsbury, Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop, Burger King, Baskin Robbins, Pizza Hut and 7UP. Capitalizing on her education in fashion, she began her licensing career at Liz Claiborne and Cole Haan.
With such a strong, diverse licensing background, Karen understands the nuances of protecting while enhancing imagery through effective and cohesive licensing. She is an excellent communicator and has the expertise and proven track record to create and develop successful licensing programs.
Randi Goodman is a licensing, branding and retail development specialist with 20 years of industry experience. Most recently, Randi was Senior Vice President, Licensing & Merchandising for New Line Cinema (a Time Warner company) for over 11 years and was instrumental in the strategy, launch, execution and retail development of many successful film based merchandising programs including: The Lord of the Rings trilogy (375 licensees worldwide, 2003 LIMA award-winner for Best Entertainment License of the Year), the Austin Powers films (200 plus licensees worldwide, 1999 LIMA nomination for License of the Year, 1999 Winner of Spencer Gifts Retail License of the Year), The Wedding Singer, Elf, Wedding Crashers, Hairspray, Sex and the City and horror libraries: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Prior to New Line Cinema, Randi was Director of Licensing at Happiness Express, a leading toy/novelty manufacturer in the early-mid nineties. In this role, Randi managed all licensed activity for licensors including Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Disney and Nickelodeon, identified/negotiated all licensed acquisitions and implemented promotional tie-ins and premium opportunities.
Randi began her career at Warner Bros. Consumer Products where she worked on properties including Looney Tunes, Batman, Superman, Pillsbury and Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop.
Randi’s unique combination of strategy and innovation has solidified key relationships at the manufacturer, retail and studio levels. With an eye always on bourgeoning trends and a portfolio full of success stories on both the licensee and licensor sides, Randi is a well-known and highly respected member of the licensing community.
